Personal profile

Personal profile

Human Population Genomicist with 14 years of research experience in human population genetics and computational genomics. Accomplished scientist with primary research goals directed toward understanding extant human genetic diversity and its implications to differential health risk in humans. Extensively worked on human genomic variations for studies ranging from human population demography, genetic origin and diversity; genome-wide disease association and gene-environment interaction; genomic structural variants to evolutionary medicine, in diverse international laboratory settings anchored by a strong scientific publication record. Broad range of knowledge in cutting-edge next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and related high-throughput scientific computing techniques. Efficient in conducting multidisciplinary collaborative research projects involving clinicians, molecular geneticists, statisticians, and bioinformaticians. Extensive leadership and teamwork experience from managing a service-oriented bioinformatics and biostatistics core facility, supervising and maintaining a sequencing unit, organizing regional and institutional NGS data analysis workshops, training students and lab technicians for DNA sequencing and downstream processing. Exceptional problem solving, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
