Abstract
Information concerning the absorption and metabolism of minerals and trace elements during infancy can be obtained by using stable isotopes as labels. This technique does not introduce any exposure to radiation and longitudinal studies on the effect of infant age can therefore be done. In this review the advantages and disadvantages of the stable isotope techniques are discussed.
